Sri Kaulagi Raghupatacharya was born to Sri Purushothamacharya and Smt Satyadevi. He born in a place called Punyastambha in Maharashtra. He studied Vyakarana, Poorva Mimamsa and other Shastras under Kumbhari Vasudevacharya. For his panditya and vairagya, he got Ashrama from Satyavratha Theertha and was named as Satyanidhi Theertha to head the Uttaradhi mutt. He gave Ashrama to many sishyas; those include Ranganatha Yathi, Satyananda Theertha, Gunanidhi Theertha, and Rama Theertha. All these four sishyas got anusamsthana but not main samsthana. He also gave Ashrama to Sumathi Yathi who is bidi sanyasi.  Out of the four sishyas Ranganatha Yathi was found to be very good in panditya. Having heard this, Satyanidhi Theertha brought many pundits from other places and tested his panditya. In this test Ranganatha Yathi was victorious. Then Satyanidhi Theertha was very happy and renamed him again as Satyanatha Theertha and handed over the Peeta. He entered Vrundavana in Nivrutti sangama.

It is said that ‘Gurucharya’ the work about the saints of Uttaradhi mutt was written during his time.

When this Vrundavana was about to submerge during Sreesailam dam water in 1984, Sri Satyapramoda Theertha then peetadhipathi of Uttaradhi mutt shifted his Vrundavana and did re-consecration in Kurnool. He also did consecration of idols of Mukhyaprana and Narasimha which were there near the Vrundavana.
