Sri Jagannata Theertharu
Sri Jagannata Theertha took Ashrama from Sri Raghunatha Theertha and is Twenty Third saint from Madhwacharya. Below is his brief introduction.
Period – 1755-1770
Ashrama guru – Sri Raghunatha Theertha (Sheshachandrikacharya)
Ashrama Shishya – Sri Srinatha Theertha
Aradhana – Pushya Shudha Dwiteeya
Vrundavana Place – Kumbhakonam, TN.
He is said to be the incarnation of Sri Galava Rishi. He is one of the famous saints in Sri Vyasaraja Mutt parampare, who entered sanyasa directly from Brahmacharya after Sri Vyasaraja. He belongs to Koundinya gotra, Shashtika Vamsha’s Tangedi family. His original place was Varavani village in the banks of river north pinakini in Gauribiddanur taluk of Kolar District. One of his ancestors Sri Tangedi Acharya was very famous vidvamsa who defeated adwaithis and installed one Jayastambha near Devarayana Durga. His Poorvashrama’s relatives are still living in Varavani and Doddaballapur.

Sri Jagannata Theertharu
His name is actually Sri Jagannata Theertha, but he is called as Bhashya Deepikacharya as he has composed the great book titled Bhashya Deepika and Sutra Deepika. Both of his works are giving true meanings of Brahma Sutras.
Once some Muslim soldiers attacked him, in order to prevent them from touching the Pooja Box, he swam in Kaveri River for nearly 20 kilometers without any difficult and saved himself and Pooja box.
After handing over mahasamsthana to Sri Srinatha Theertha, he entered Vrundavana at Kumbhakonam, TN.
